Kia ora, I'm Wally! I work remotely and represent the DBI from Te Tai Tokerau/Northland. As a Researcher I work in many different areas for the DBI - doing online interviews and focus groups, and gathering information that informs organisations and government of what’s important to disabled communities. I'm also a core part of the DBI's Māori Leadership Team and enjoying bringing new ideas of how the DBI can embody their commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and expand as a bi-cultural organisation.

Previously, I’ve worked with other organisations to enhance the value of disabled lives and I have a Degree in Social Work from the Manukau Institute of Technology.

Outside of work, first and foremost, I hold my family in highest regard. My children and moko are my beating heart and I try to be in their lives as much as I can (without going too overboard!) I also take my health and wellbeing seriously, I’m active at the gym and in the past, have represented New Zealand in Waka Ama (paddling). I also have developed an interest in playing pool, and enjoy connecting with people socially, and lead an active and fulfilling life.
