- The Personal Advocacy Trust
The Personal Advocacy Trust Inc was set up nearly 45 years ago to provide advocacy and friendship for people with an intellectual disability after their parents have died. We keep an eye on all aspects of our Members' lives - financial, health, accommodation, day activities and in fact all aspects of their lives to make sure they are as happy and well looked after as can be. Our Advocates speak up with and for our members and we have too many examples where our Member is being taken advantage of financially or not receiving excellent health care or has no say on where and with whom they want to live. The Trust runs on fees from the Parents who pay a once-off fee in exchange for having an Advocate for the rest of their son or daughter's life.
